Kitchen and conservatory photos

I haven’t made a home decor post since the dressing room tour, so I thought I’d make one about our kitchen! It’s one of my favourite rooms in the house, and one of the most “finished” ones, even though every room is always an evolving work in progress.

The kitchen decor was mainly inspired by 80s and early 90s postmodern design (Memphis Milano, Alessi and that sort of thing) with some more traditional cosy kitchen elements. The conservatory extension continues the same postmodern theme, but with some heavy Addams Family inspiration. The Beetlejuice house (Deetz version) was also an inspiration for both the kitchen and conservatory.

Some years ago I made a video tour of the kitchen and conservatory which you can check out below. Things have changed a bit since, and as usual it’s a really crappy video, but it still gives a pretty good idea of the room.

Most of these photos are a few years old so there have been some additions since. I will probably make an updated post eventually.

The contents of the welsh dresser on the left have since been somewhat rearranged, and it now has a huge apothecary leech jar on top of it.

Since this photo was taken we have added some copper moulds and other things on the walls, and there are some decorative items on top of the kitchen cabinets.

This was also taken before the big leech jar on the dresser.

Flowers from the garden usually end up on the welsh dresser.

I keep almost all of my plants in the conservatory. I’m especially interested in carnivorous plants and most of them have been with me for a long time.

My favourite, Nepenthes Miranda.

I painted this door with a gold leaf pen.

That’s all for now! I hope to share some more current photos as well as more rooms from our house eventually.
