Dressing room
I already posted this video on my Youtube channel, and some of these photos on instagram, but I wanted to collect everything into one post.
With a lot of help from my partner I recently finished decorating my ultra fancy dressing room and I’m so excited about it.
This is a crappy Iphone photo that doesn’t really do the room justice, but you get a better idea of what it looks like in context.
As I mention in the video, the basic wardrobe units (which we heavily customised) are from IKEA and the two chests of drawers that make up the “island” in the middle were also bought new, but practically all the other furnishings, including all the curtains and even the fake flowers on the dressing table, are second hand finds, mainly from our local antiques market.
I didn’t say so in the video, but a lot of the hats you see in this room were made by me.
These hat heads were made by attaching plaster skulls to thrifted candlesticks.
The stickers on the side of the wardrobe are by Imai Kira.
The Spanish doll is the one remainder of a small collection of Spanish souvenir dolls I use to have as a child/teen. I got the first one from a relative because I was admiring it so much in their home. I picked up a couple more at flea markets over the years before finally finding this one which is the ultimate. The others were all plastic but this is completely handmade, probably quite old, and absolutely gorgeous. I eventually gave the plastic ones away because they felt superfluous when I had this one. But I kind of regret not keeping the very first one as a memory.
I painted and trimmed many of the boxes to match the room.
I was so lucky to find both the perfect pair of velvet curtains for the wardrobes and the floral curtains for the window, which perfectly match the room, second hand.
Let me know if you have any questions about anything in the room that I didn’t mention in the post or video, I love talking about my things!
