Wardrobe Project: Snow White patch dress

I have a weakness for fairytale-themed clothes and accessories, Snow White-themed in particular. By now I would say I have enough to call it a collection, and this is the latest addition.

This dress is based on the one Snow White wears at the start of the Disney movie, when she cleans and sings into the wishing well.

The border print on the skirt features illustrations from the “little golden books” which I think most children and former children are familiar with. In fact they are from a special version called a big golden book from 1952 (I think). I don’t know who the illustrator is but there is a clear Mary Blair influence on the style, and I love these illustrations.

My favourite thing about this dress is that the patches (the dress in the movie is tattered and patched), are also printed with book illustrations. Such a cute idea.

Outfit details

Dress: Secret Honey

Shoes: Tokyo Bopper

Socks: Random socks I don’t remember where I got.

Ring: Cecilie Melli

Everything was acquired second hand except the socks and the ring, which was a gift from the maker Cecilie Melli. It’s the perfect little Disney-esque bluebird and I love wearing it with Snow White inspired outfits.

The book I’m carrying is a replica of the one shown at the start of Disney’s Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. I adore the “book at the start of the movie” trope and I have two of these Disney movie prop book replicas. They are actually just notebooks but they look amazing and I am so happy to have them in my home.
