Wardrobe Project: Black velvet 70s maxi dress

As I mentioned in the Wardrobe Project introduction post, I’m going to periodically repost some favourite Wardrobe Project entries that were previously only posted on Instagram. There will often be more photos and information in these blog posts though.

The main garment for this outfit from 2019 was this amazing black velvet 1970s maxi dress. The dress has a large detachable black and white plaid bow, which I also love, but for this outfit I wanted the more sleek look of the plain white collar.

I love the 1930s style of this dress, so I did my best to do a glamorous movie star look.

Outfit details

Dress:Lord & Taylor. I think this is kind of a slightly fancy department store brand? I got the dress really cheap on Etsy I think.

Necklace: An Alchemy Gothic bat necklace where I switched the original chain for a pearl strand.

There is no brand listed on the tights or slippers. I’m also wearing various skeleton themed earrings and random rings.

With the exception of the tights everything in this outfit was acquired second hand, either bought or handed down from friends and family.
