Tatton Park

A few weeks ago me and Henrik went to Tatton Park, and it immediately became one of my favourite touristy gardeny places we’ve been so far. I was keen to go because they have a farm as well as a garden, and I love farm animals.

In my dream life I have chickens a couple of goats, and I’m hoping at least the chickens will become reality one day.

In chicken heaven. They had temporary fencing because of concerns about bird flu.

The farm was great, but the garden turned out to be amazing as well.

I’m assuming this was (at least historically) the gardener’s residence.

The kitchen garden was quite bare when we visited in early spring, but I can’t wait to go back.

The most perfect princessy garden gate.

In my slimy element.

Perfect fairytale tower folly!

Rapunzel scarecrow.

Redwood trees! I always love to see these even if they don’t grow as giant here in the UK. Conifer trees are my absolutely favourite.

Perhaps my favourite thing in the garden, a swamp cypress! I’ve never seen one of these in the UK before and they are possibly my most favourite tree ever. I was reading my favourite swamp monster book Blackwater: The Complete Saga on the bench.

Tatton Park also had the most gorgeous Japanese garden.

I was so excited about this pond called “Leech Pond”, but sadly according to the brochure there are no leeches in it. This is me searching for leeches before I read that.

Disappointed. Still a pretty and slimy-looking pond.

Really spectacular fernery glasshouse. The natural-looking planting with all the moss was beautiful.
