I got my dream Gene doll!
Thanks to my partner I am now the owner of my dream Gene doll!
Gene Marshall is a doll created by very talented artist Mel Odom in 1995, and I’ve wanted one ever since I started perusing doll collecting websites sometime in the late 90s.
I have only ever seen one in real life before, at a doll museum in Paris, and I never thought I would actually own one.
When my absolute top favourite, “Shooting Star”, turned up on Ebay the other week for a good price and actually in the UK, Henrik very kindly bought it for me! (In fact he’s recently been helping me acquire several things from my ultimate toy wish list, so there will probably be more toy posts soon.)
She’s in excellent condition and only missing her tiny gun. I am amazed at the quality of both the doll and her perfect and incredibly intricate little sharpshooter outfit. It’s on the same level as vintage Barbie clothes, except even more detailed because of the larger scale.
