Haddon Hall and blog woes

Me and Henrik went to Haddon Hall a few weeks back.

It's one of my favourite historic buildings to visit around here because it is such a classic fairytale castle.

Another reason I love Haddon Hall is that there is an actual medieval wall painting of The Three Living and the Three Dead in the attached chapel.

Haddon Hall is also where they filmed The Princess Bride as well as some other things.

I'm guessing this is the gardener's cottage?

Pretty magnificent boar head topiary (it's the heraldic symbol of one of the families that lived at Haddon Hall).

They had some Halloweeny decorations up when we visited. Also I've been wearing the jacket from my beloved tartan suit with everything lately.

There are lots of great gargoyles on the outside of the building.

The Three Living and the Three Dead! Or to be more precise just the three dead, as the other half of the painting is no longer visible.

I also love all the other wall paintings in the chapel. It's probably my favourite part of Haddon Hall.

I love this castle-shaped chandelier. It's probably just a fairly new one made to go with the room, but it looks great. The floating candles were part of the Halloween display.

Dahlias!

I absolutely loved the look of this door. I think I'm going to have to use it in a painting one of these days.

I also photographed some wilting plants for art reference.

I am once again thinking about moving my blog somewhere else. This built in shopify blog is quite fiddly to use and it's annoying that you can't reply to comments. Any suggestions for free and simple blogging platforms are welcome (although I'm not going back to substack!).

Thank you for reading!
