Bedroom photos

I thought it was time for another room tour photo post. These photos are not all new and some things have moved around a bit since, but it generally looks the same.

This is one room that is far from finished, but it's still very nice in its current state.

The room was this pale lilac colour when we moved in, and although it's nice I have always wanted to paint it pink. My partner really likes the lilac though so we compromised by just painting the two alcove walls flanking the bed.

The original paint really needs to be redone at some point and by then I think it will all be pink, but I will probably save this wall behind the bed as it is.

This bed by the way is the only piece of furniture we bought new for the room.

The theme for this room is girly 1980s style and fairytale princess glamour.

I inherited the fluffy blue 1960s chair from my grandfather's sister and it used to be in my teenage room.

The crown on the pedestal is directly inspired by the princess's bedroom in The Singing Ringing tree, one of my favourite movies.

I think I got this ancient IKEA shelf from my friend Liselotte a long time ago? I painted it to go with the hallway in our old flat, which had pretty much the same theme and colour scheme as this room.

Some of my favourite Barbies on display by the bed. I think that "B" is a makeup brush stand. I found it second hand but I believe it was merch for the Barbie movie.

My childhood Shani doll, still looking great.

The spiderweb curtains are old IKEA ones that I used to have in my teenage room. I've had to patch them up since they have been been used for forest photoshoots and costumes and have followed me through several homes.

To surround the bed we really wanted another set of the same curtains, which was not easy, but my partner eventually found one set for sale in Finland.

My Integrity Toys Synergy doll. I would love to have an original Synergy someday, but I love this remake as well.

My sister made the little felt weasel, and the knitted animal with a clay face is part of a line of figures I made and sold in the early 2000s.

I have lots of plans and unfinished projects for this room, but that's all for now.

Thank you for reading!

I am rather partial to lilac, too — the color. The flower’s scent I’m actually allergic to. We painted our walk-through vestibule closet lilac and used a lilac textured wallpaper in the bedroom. Like you, we had to cave on the bed and buy new. I watched and waited for more than 10 years for a desirable secondhand one, with no luck. When I saw one I liked in a furniture store, I showed my spouse & we decided to just get it. We both had wanted a canopy style bed like what you both have here, but we couldn’t do that in our current home w/ the ceiling height & ceiling fan. It’s the one thing I’ve promised myself if we ever have to move — to pick a place where we can put in a canopy bed. Anyway, the pink you chose goes well with the lilac, and it seems like fair compromise ^^.

“The theme for this room is girly 1980s style and fairytale princess glamour.” Do you aim for a theme for each room? I love how you’ve incorporated your collections. I really need to work on putting up shelves and hanging art. I’m always second guessing where exactly I want to puncture holes in the walls. I am surely overthinking it.

How do you decide which books to store beside your bed in your nightstand? I caught a glimpse of them.
